We even seek out competition with other golf clubs throughout Northern and Southern California. We call these outside competitons "challenge matches" . Continental Competition
The exciting Continental Flight & Club Championship series starts in July of each year. The following are the minimum criteria for eligibility: 1. must be a regular club member by May 30. 2. must have played in at least 1 club tournaments or challenge matches by May 30. ...............or must play in the 3 day WSGA annual championship tournament in June.
Format For Flight Championships: ```````````````````` ***low net scores from 2 of the first 4 rounds Plus ***low net score from round 5. (the 5th round is compulsory. ***(2 of the first 4 rounds are thrown out!) ***A total of 3 of the 5 scheduled rounds must be played.
Club Championship: ***all 4 flight winners plus 4 "wild cards"................and the overall "club low gross" player compete in an 18 hole championship round in November of each year.
The $$$ Pot It is a Continental tradition that each of the four (4) finalist "buythemselves" for $50.00 in the championship round. 20% of the pot goes to the WSGA Scholarship Fund. Continental donates $1,200 - $1,500 to The First Tee of South Los Angeles each year.
SCGA Club Championship: Continental is also an affiliate member of the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA). We stage a parrallel competition each year for the SCGA club championship for those members who also join SCGA through Continental. If the "regular" (WSGA) Club Champion is also an eligible member of SCGA, then he/she is also eligible for the SCGA Club Championship. If the "regular Club Champion is not an eligible member of SCGA, the lowest net SCGA member wins the SCGA Club Championship.
