About Us
What is The Eagles @ Shoreline Golf Club?
It is a low-overhead golf club aimed at meeting the interests of the more avid golfers who play regularly in the Palo Alto to San Jose area. Our home course is Shoreline Golf Links in Mountain View. The club derives its name from the Golden Eagle that frequents Shoreline and the surrounding park area.
The club offers many new and innovative ways to enhance your golfing experience. The club's first focus will be:
• | Minimum cost for Club Membership and maintaining an NCGA handicap ($60 per year, or $70 for the first year if you do not have a current and active GHIN number). | • | A heavy reliance on modern web-based communications and interactions through a world class golf web site. | And for those of you who have an interest in some competitive golf, which is also a key component of maintaining a valid handicap:
| • | A tournament/event schedule structured for maximum flexibility. One key element of that flexibility is that you can play in each event on any day the tournament is on the schedule. Some events will be a week long, some may be 2 weeks long, some could last a month. | • | An emphasis on self-reliance among members for the formation and tee time scheduling of groups. | • | A high level of adherence to the Rules of the Game with club policies and procedures geared towards the more avid golfer. | • | A serious approach towards engaging in NCGA competitions, for those who wish to pursue those goals. |
Tournaments in the most common formats will be available for members who enjoy friendly competition. Members will sign up for tournaments using the club web site, and can opt to play any day the tournament is on the schedule. • | Tournament participants (club members only) are responsible for procuring their own tee times. This allows for maximum flexibility - you are not locked into a fixed time or day of the week. You decide what works best for you and your group, just so that day is during the period during which the event is on the schedule. | • | You must play with at least one other participating club member for all single player formats. Twosome formats will require that you play in foursomes of club members. | • | You must turn in a signed and attested score card by the last day of the tournament. | • | The club web site will manage all aspects of the weekly tournaments from participant signups, handicaps, scores and results. |
Club membership application forms are now available in the pro shop at Shoreline. We urge you to consider this new alternative form of club, whether your need is just an official handicap or the opportunity for some competition beyond that offered by your regular golfing buddies.
