Welcome back to the Foxtail Men's Golf Club for 2008.
This document is an outline of tournament timelines, procedures and policies.
You can sign up for all tournaments via the website (http://foxtailgolf.org) or by the signup sheet in the club house. Additionally, you may simply give me a call and I will make sure you are signed up. My cell is 707-694-8735. If you are siging up at the last minute, I will do my best to fit you in but to ensure a spot, please sign up early.
The tournament signup sheet will remain in the clubhouse until the Wednesday before the tournament. You may also sign up online through the Wednesday before the event. If you need to sign up after that day then please email me (icigarret@aol.com) or call me and I’ll do my best to fit you in. I must have the number of players in to the course by late Wed/early Thurs, that’s the reason for this deadline. Please DO NOT signup your friends unless you are 100% sure they will be playing. If you sign someone up and they do not show they will be charged the no-show fee of $10. .
About a week before the event, and the Monday before the tournament we will send out an email reminding you to sign up. If you have not received these emails please contact us because it means that we do not have your email address in our system.
By 1pm the Friday before the tournament, the tournament roster pairings will be posted in the Club house at the course and on the website. If you notice an error in the pairings, please contact me.
Day of the tournament: A board member will be in the bar area, ready to sign you in at least 30 minutes before the first tee time. We ask that you show up and check in with the men’s club representative AT LEAST 30 minutes before your tee time. This courtesy will allow the person running the tournament enough time to finish checking everyone in and get in a little practice before his tee time, which is usually in the last group.
Typical entry for a tournament is $10. If there is a 2 day event or a luncheon then additional entry fees may apply. When you check in you’ll be given the opportunity to participate in the Horse Race. Whereas the tournament winner is paid out with Foxtail Pro Shop credit, the horse race is a cash payout. Both the horse race and tornaments are flighted to match golfers of similar abitilies against each other. New for 2008: We will be paying out both tournament and horse race winning instantly at the end of each tournament. If you want to hang around and have a beer while watching the scoreboard, your winnings will be handed to you on the spot. If you are not present, we will have the tournament winnings in the mail by the next day. We will not be able to mail horse race winings, so that money will be paid to you at the next tournament you participate in.
You will receive a score card, on the top of the scorecard you can find the following information: Rules of the tournament, whether it is summer or winter rules, the guidelines for payouts (which in the case of the horse race depend on the number of entrants in each flight), the date by which your score will be posted for you, tie-break procedures.
Ties will continue to be handled as follows: In the tournament itself ties will be broken by the prescribed method on the top of the score card. With regards to the Horse Race, we will not do tie-breakers but rather divide the money as the PGA does. If there are two people tied for 1st then 1st and 2nd money is added together, each receives ½ and if there is a 3rd spot being paid, the next person finishes 3rd and receives the third place money.
If, while playing, you are unsure of a ruling please play two balls and keep score on both. Upon completion of the round please seek out a board member for a ruling. Please turn in your score card as soon as you finish your round. If you have side games with other members please keep a second score cards so that you are not delayed in turning in your card.
A completed score card will have the following elements: Legible writing, hole by hole gross score, 9 and 18 hole totals, Net score and Adjusted Gross score additionally the scorecard must be signed and dated by the marker and the player. An incorrect or incomplete score card is grounds for a penalty and/or disqualification, so please take a moment to confirm that your scorecard has been filled out neatly and completely.
Most of our tournaments are Individual Medal, this means that you play your own ball throughout the round(s). We also often will have Two Man Best-Ball, 4 man 2 best ball and other formats. In most cases we try to allow players to play their own ball for the round.
Please remember that your group’s place on the course is IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU. We have been plagued by slow play in the past and are working with the Marshalling crew and the golf course to establish a pace of play policy. This policy will likely include 2 warnings and then a stroke penalty after the warnings. More on this as we finalize it.
We will post your score, post the results on the website and in the club house by the date listed on the top of the scorecard. New for 2008: we will be bringing back the money leader list which will be posted on the website.
Our goal is to make sure everyone has fun and understands how things are run, if you have feedback or suggestions please feel free to contact a board member.
The schedule for 2008 will be coming in the mail in the next two weeks.
Best,
Garret Glass
