In the 2005 inaugural Bridgett Cup Competition, Peter Mankin held off a late season surge by Eric Green to win the Lawyers & Judges Player of the Year competition. The award is based on a year-long point system based on performance in tournaments. Mankin finished with 695 points after a second place finish at Mira Vista C.C., worth 50 points. Green had 635 points, mostly amassed with his wins in both the Jimmy Naylor and Match Play tournaments in October and November. Bruce Cornelius finished third with 425 points. Bob Sheldon declared himself the "Tiger Woods" of the year, earning 410 points for fourth place, playing in only three events. Stalwart Bill Keep finished fifth with 385 points, capped by reaching the Semi-Finals of the Match Play championship.
In 2006, Eric Green and Mankin battled it out again to the bloody finish. This time Green took the honors with a late season surge, including a victory in the Match Play Championship and a runaway victory with a net 67 at the final tournament at Coyote Creek, worth 100 points. Green finished with 450 points, overhauling Mankin with 420. Nick Blonder finished 3rd with 385, Bob Sheldon 4th with 360, Bob Hester 5th with 330 and Bruce Cornelius 6th with 310. Green is negotiating with Reggie Jackson over the right to call himself "Mr. October."
In 2007, Nick Blonder built an early lead with steady play and held on for the Cup despite not playing in the Match Play Championship. David Smith had a chance to overtake Nick if he won in the finals of Match Play at Wente on December 7. However, stalwart Bruce Cornelius prevailed at Wente, 2&1, to win the 2007 Match Play Championship. In the final Bridgett standings, Dave was second, Bruce third and Peter Mankin fourth. In 2008, Peter Mankin repeated as Player of the Year. His title was slightly tainted by the fact that the point-heavy Match Play Championship was not played at the end of the year. Dave Smith, Bob Sheldon and Nick Blonder were neck-and-neck for second place.Bruce Cornelius finished fifth.
