Little League for Golf Program
The Santa Teresa Junior Golf Club Little League for Golf Program provides an opportunity for junior golfers between the ages of 8 - 13, to participate in a team oriented golf competition league.
Eligibility: The league will consist up to 32 STJGC members placed on four (4) teams. Each team will be made up of six to eight (6-8) Santa Teresa Junior Club members who have not reached their fourteenth birthday by May 21, 2017.
Teams will be selected by a tryout system that will begin prior to the start of the season.
The teams will have Santa Teresa Golf Club Professional staff members as coaches. Coaches will attend all practices and matches.
Registration period: The registration period for Spring 2017 will begin on Friday, March 10, 2017, and will close on Friday, April 7, 2017.
Tryout round: Two nine-hole tryout rounds will take place on Friday, March 31, and Friday, April 7, 2017, at 5:00 PM on the Santa Teresa Short Course. If a player is unable to attend one, or both tryout rounds, the player may, on their own play two rounds on the Short Course, and return the scorecards to Terry Sullivan, prior to April 8, 2017.
Tryout process: Any active Santa Teresa Junior Golf Club member, who will not reach their fourteenth birthday by May 21, 2017, may try out for a team. The process will consist of one (1) nine hole stroke play round on the Short Course. All first time Little League participants must pass a rules, and etiquette test, administered at the tryout round(s), and be able to play nine holes on the Short Course without adult supervision. Any junior who is unable to meet the minimum requirements of ability, and knowledge to participate will be given a recommendation for further coaching to prepare for a future season, and a refund of Little League Registration fees.
Matches: The season will consist of six matches that will be in the PGA Junior League format (Scramble Match Play Teams). Each match will be played over nine holes on the Short Course.
Registration: Register online at the STJGC website, or at the Santa Teresa Golf Club Golf Shop. (MUST BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE SANTA TERESA JUNIOR GOLF CLUB YOC)
A registration fee of $250.00 per member, per season, will include all greens fees, practice range balls during supervised practices (45 minutes prior to each match), all instruction costs, and awards. Payment is due upon registration, and must be made prior to the tryout rounds.
